With the creativity of writing, performing and drawing pulsating in his blood from his youth, Cortez Law III enrolled in copywriting and scriptwriting courses and was one of the actors on the Kent State University cable system improvisational show, Something, Anything. Though this was a creative arena, his passion for writing exploded in his spirit.

He studied numerous books on the subject of screenwriting for the movies and proceeded to write seventeen film scripts, two plays and a television pilot over an eight and a half year period. Slamming into the walls of Hollywood, he searched for a vehicle that would satisfy his creative talents and most importantly, fulfill the calling of God on his life. That’s when he turned to the novelistic form of creative expression.

The next challenge was to go about finding a publisher. After contacting some Christian book publishers and being turned down, he focused on his next move and turned to self-publishing. He studied everything he could on the subject. From book production to marketing to business management. With the company name of Issues Of Blood Books and after many months of writing and re-writing, his first novel, My Brother’s Keeper, was born.

The entire process was a major learning experience and though less successful than he still managed to sell about 50% of the small press run throughout the Southeast and Southwest.

Having enjoyed the big screen images of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Will Smith, Wesley Snipes, Denzel Washington, Steven Segal, Tom Cruise, and other action/adventure heroic portrayals, Cortez switched gears. The national tragedy of September 11th, 2001 coupled with his natural affinity for the hero myths of the suspense/mystery/thriller genres, focused his talents and gifts toward fulfillment of that recently acknowledged for writing crime and justice stories that reflect both Christian and African-American viewpoints in his work amidst the battle between good and evil.

Cortez Law III is the author of five independently published books. The romance novel, My Brother's Keeper (2001), the Atlanta X-Men Homicide Squad suspense/mystery/thriller novels Kremlin Tide (2014), Cold Lick (2015), Serial Rites (2017), Shadow Doctors (2019), the science fiction/thriller, S.Y.P.H.E.N. (2015) and the supernatural thriller novella, Evil Realms (2019). He resides in the Metro Atlanta, Georgia area. Visit him online at https://www.cortezlaw.net.
